Thus I began combing issues of <a href="http://www.kitfoster.com/images/2006-12-13_WTNWeb-Large.jpg"target="_blank" title="cover of White Triangle News" target="_blank"class="imglink">White Triangle News, magazine of the Hudson-Essex-Terraplane Club, for presentable running cars in my price range. I envisioned another 1930s Hudson, until I spied a <a href="http://www.kitfoster.com/images/2006-12-13_AngusWTNWeb-Large.jpg"target="_blank" title="illustration of Angus at Cape Cod" target="_blank"class="imglink">1925 Super Six Brougham at just the price I was prepared to pay. Jill and I made a quick trip to Cape Cod to check it out, and a deal was struck on the spot. My friend Ed Bernier took me out in his <a href="http://www.kitfoster.com/images/2006-12-13_Angus-the-HudsonLoadedWeb-Large.jpg"target="_blank" title="illustration of Angus loaded" target="_blank"class="imglink">ramp truck to <a href="http://www.kitfoster.com/images/2006-12-13_Angus-the-HudsontoTravelWeb-Large.jpg"target="_blank" title="illustration of Angus and Kit" target="_blank"class="imglink">fetch it, and home we came, arriving just as <a href="http://www.kitfoster.com/images/2006-12-13_Angus-the-HudsonHomeWeb-Large.jpg"target="_blank" title="illustration of Angus in snow" target="_blank"class="imglink">snow began to fall.

We named the car “Angus,” after Angus Hudson, the butler played by Gordon Jackson in the long-running ITV/PBS series “Upstairs, Downstairs.” An early example of the <a href="http://www.kitfoster.com/images/2006-12-13_Hudson1925BroughRFWeb-Large.jpg"target="_blank" title="illustration of 1925 Hudson Brougham" target="_blank"class="imglink">Brougham, a niche model introduced by Hudson in May 1925, Angus has an aluminum-skinned body by Biddle and Smart of Amesbury, Massachusetts. He was repainted around 1960, at which time a <a href="http://www.kitfoster.com/images/2006-11-22_AngusRoofRearWeb-Large.jpg"target="_blank" title="illustration of naugahyde roof" target="_blank"class="imglink">naugahyde roof replaced the original leather, He is otherwise original, down to the <a href="http://www.kitfoster.com/images/2006-12-13_AngusDetail1Web-Large.jpg"target="_blank" title="illustration of Angus's upholstery" target="_blank"class="imglink">mohair upholstery that remains in good condition today. The dashboard leather has <a href="http://www.kitfoster.com/images/2006-12-13_AngusDetail4Web-Large.jpg"target="_blank" title="illustration of Angus's dashboard" target="_blank"class="imglink">cracked and <a href="http://www.kitfoster.com/images/2006-12-13_AngusDetail10Web-Large.jpg"target="_blank" title="illustration of Angus's trim" target="_blank"class="imglink">nickel trim is thin, but Angus has served us well, taking us on countless tours, <a href="http://www.kitfoster.com/images/2006-12-13_AngusatPicnicWeb-Large.jpg"target="_blank" title="illustration of Angus and friends at picnic" target="_blank"class="imglink">picnics and <a href="http://www.kitfoster.com/images/2006-12-13_AngusatW-PMeetWeb-Large.jpg"target="_blank" title="illustration of Angus at car show" target="_blank"class="imglink">shows while the <a href="http://www.kitfoster.com/images/2006-12-13_Nick&HarrietinAngusWeb-Large.jpg"target="_blank" title="illustration of Nick and Harriet in Angus" target="_blank"class="imglink">children were small. By 1929 the Brougham was gone, but a semblance of the style can be seen in the <a href="http://www.kitfoster.com/images/2006-12-13_Hudson1929ClubSedWeb-Large.jpg"target="_blank" title="illustration of 1929 Hudson Club sedan" target="_blank"class="imglink">Club Sedan, a Murphy-designed body built by Biddle and Smart.
